DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered organizations concerned to publicize disaster preparedness measures elaborately and launching of a nationwide awareness campaign to let everyone understand what they should do during disasters.
The premier was addressing a National Disaster Management Council (NDMC) meeting at the PMO on Thursday (April 18).
Urging all to be aware about safety measures at respective workplace, Sheikh Hasina said, “You all have to be aware where you work, what to do, whether there is adequate safety measures. People have to prepare themselves in this regard.
Review continuously the government initiatives for successfully handling the natural disasters and fix what should be done, she added.
Sheikh Hasina also said awareness should be increased among the people in using electricity, gas cylinder and flammable substances to minimize the risk caused by the modernization.
PM expressed government's ability to deal with various disasters and highlighted different preparedness programs in the face of natural disasters and various accidents.
She asked the National Disaster Management Council to make it’s preparation time-befitting to fix do’s and don’ts to face the disasters in future.
Regarding the development plan of the country, she said that Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated countries. Keeping this in mind every step will have to be taken.
Senior cabinet members, senior officials and secretaries attended the meeting.
