Paceman Patel to join India tri-series squad


NEW DELHI: Fast bowler Munaf Patel will join India`s squad for the remaining matches of the ongoing triangular one-day series in Sri Lanka, officials said on Thursday.

"Munaf Patel is joining the Indian team in Sri Lanka as an additional member of the squad. He will reach Dambulla tomorrow," Indian cricket board secretary N. Srinivasan said in a statement.

India lost to New Zealand by 200 runs in their opening day-night match in Dambulla on Tuesday and face Sri Lanka in their next game on Monday.

New Zealand clash with Sri Lanka on Friday. Each side will play the other twice in the preliminary group stage before the top two advance to the final on August 28.

Patel, 27, has so far taken 47 wickets in 43 one-day internationals.
