Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs adviser to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, on Thursday announced that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.
Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after concluding a nine-day visit to New York, Kabir said, “Tarique Rahman will return to the country very soon and there is no doubt about his return.”
He claimed that the chief adviser has been sincere about ensuring the national elections are held, adding that the polls are expected to take place in February.
Kabir also alleged that the attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders in New York proved once again that the ruling Awami League is a “terrorist organisation.”
