A prisoner died inside Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail in Gazipur on Thursday night (Sep 8).

The deceased was identified Afaz Uddin (20), son of Hossain Ali of Dakshin Dhanua area of Sripur Upazila of Gazipur.

According to Kashimpur Central Jail sources, Afaz fell ill inside the jail suddenly. At that time he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Later, the doctor made an examination and declared him dead around 10:30 am. In jail, he was prisoner no-133222.

Senior Jail Superintendent (Acting) of Kashimpur Central Jail-1 Nurunnabi Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.

He said the body will be handed over to the relatives after legal proceedings.
