Shahdat Hossain new ambassador to Belgium

DHAKA: The government has decided to appoint Md. Shahdat Hossain, who is currently serving as Bangladesh’s ambassador in Italy, as the new ambassador of Bangladesh to Belgium.

He will be replacing Ismat Jahan, says a press release issued by foreign ministry on Monday (April 18).

A career diplomat, Md. Shahdat Hossain belongs to the 1984 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.

In his distinguished diplomatic career, besides being the ambassador of Bangladesh in Italy, he also served as the ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar and as Bangladesh high commissioner to Sri Lanka.

He also served in Bangladesh embassy in Cairo, Bangladesh high commission in Islamabad and New Delhi and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to UN in New York in various capacities.
Md. Shahdat Hossain obtained BA (Hons) and MA in English literature from Rajshahi University.
