Court asks DB to investigate Jihad death

DHAKA: A Dhaka court ordered Detective Branch of Police for further investigation over death of three-year-old kid Jihad falling into a abandoned pipe of WASA in Shahjahanpur of the city.

Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order in response to a petition filed by deceased’s father Nasir Uddin.

GRO of court concerned Aminul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On December 27 last year, the body of Jihad was pulled out by local people, after the fire service called off the 23-hour rescue operation into abandoned well.

Later, Jihad’s father filed a murder case with Shahjahanpur police station.

On April 8, police submitted a charge sheet against two people for the death of Jihad in an abandoned deep tube-well pipe.

Charges were pressed against Abdus Salam, the owner of the plot that housed the deep well, and Jahangir Alam, senior sub-assistant engineer of Bangladesh Railway.
