DHAKA: A Dhaka court Tuesday awarded death penalty to two persons and life-term jail to one for killing an elderly couple in Faridpur.

Judge of Dhaka-4 Speedy Trial Tribunal ABM Nizamul Haq passed the order nearly two years after the murder.

The death row convicts were—Nazrul Islam and Sujon Bepari. While life-timer Tanvir was also fined Tk 20,000.

Case statement reads- the trio slaughtered BIWTA officials Shamsul Haq, 70 and his wife Nargis Bagum, 60 on October 26 in 2013.

Later Kamrul Ahsan, son of the slain official, filed a case with Faridpur Kotwali Thana. The accused were arrested on November 17 of same year.
