DHAKA: Customs authorities detained a passenger and recovered 2.3 kilograms of gold from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday.
The detainee is identified as Abdul Jalil, 38, passenger of a flight of United Airways which landed at the airport around 7:00am.
Assistant commissioner (Customs) M Al Amin told banglanews, during scanning, Jalil was found in possession of five pieces of gold weighing 2 kilograms and 300 gram hidden inside the parts of machinery, wrapping with carbon papers.
Legal action is being taken against the detainee, he added.
