DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked all concerned, including law enforcement agencies, to remain vigilant so that militant activities can make no heads-up in Bangladesh.

During visit to the Home Ministry on Thursday, the premier instructed all concerned to nip militant activities in the bud.

Comparing the acts of violence occurred during BNP-endorsed shutdowns with militant activities and crimes against humanity, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Bring the perpetrators who are involved with such violence under the trial. They must be punished.’

‘It is possible to control eve teasing and acid attacks when there was a severe punishment for such heinous acts,’ said the Prime Minister adding, ‘similarly, the people who involved in arson attacks should be brought to book, otherwise these kind of violence can not be controlled.’

Referring the land boundary agreement between Bangladesh-India a diplomatic success, she thanked everyone involved in the sector.

Earlier on Wednesday, Indian lawmakers passed the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) bill in their Rajya Sabha.

Under the LBA, India will transfer 111 enclaves (land with people belonging to Bangladesh but encircled by Indian Territory) measuring 17, 160.63 acres to Bangladesh and will receive from Bangladesh 51 enclaves measuring 7, 110.2 acres.
