DHAKA: State-run Gas Transmission Company (GTCL) has proposed fixing the wheeling charge at 47 paisa increasing by 15 paisa per cubic square gas transmission.
However, GTCL currently realizes at 32 paisa for per cubic meter.
GTCL placed the proposal in a mass hearing organized in Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) of the city on Monday.
BERC chairman AR Khan, member Dr Selim Mahmud, and engineers Delwar Hossain, Rahman Murshed and Maksudul Haq received the mass hearing.
For the first time, the mass hearing took place on wheeling charge of gas.
Moreover, this sort of hearing will be held for gas prize hike on Tuesday.
On the day, the hearing will be held on the proposals of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited and Western Gas Company Limited.
On Wednesday, Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited and Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company will face the hearing.
Later on Thursday, the hearing will be conducted on the proposals of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited and Sundarbans Gas Distribution Company Limited.
The companies proposed to increase the rate for one-burner stove from Tk 400 to Tk 850 and two-burner from Tk 450 to Tk 1000.
