5 Indian citizens sent to jail

AKHAURA (BRAHMANBARIA): A Brahmanbaria court on Thursday sent five Indian citizens, including a minor and a woman detained at Akhaura upazila while trying to enter Bangladesh illegally, to jail.

The Indian citizens were identified as Sukhdev Das, 65, Pranay Das, 26, Joba Das, 45, Bisu Das, 45 and Rajasree Das, 7, hailed from Rangakhari village under Sonai of Cachar district in the state of Assam of India.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources told banglanews that they detained the Indian citizens from Ghagutia frontier of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

Police sources said the detainees were produced before the court on Thursday noon and the court sent them to jail in the afternoon.
