FROM MAWA GHAT: No trace of Pinak-6 has found out though 46 plus hours passed since a passenger launch with more than 200 passengers on board capsized in the Padma River on Monday morning.

No progress was made in the rescue operation due to unfavorable weather and heavy current, said the authorities concerned.

At present, four rescue vessels--- Rustam and Nirvik of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Agnishasok and Agnibeena of Fire Service department-- are conducting the salvage operation.

Rescue vassals Swandhani, Teesta and IT-394 of BIWTA and speed boat Rescue-2 of Fire Service have been kept out of the operation for now after the night-long works.

The sunken launch either might have covered under the silt soil of the river or gone distance away due to downstream, but the rescue operation is underway, said Captain Nazrul Islam of Bangladesh Navy to banglanews.

Earlier, bodies of two women were recovered and dozens more feared dead after Pinak-6, carrying more than 200 passengers, capsized 100 yards far fram Mawa Jetty in the river at 11:00am on Monday.

Of the passengers, 40 were managed to swim to the river bank while rest of the passengers remained missing.
