Four people were killed when a bus rammed into a stationary ambulance on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in the Nimtala area of Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj.

The victims were brought to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead. The doctor confirmed that all four had died before reaching the hospital.

Inspector Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the deaths and said several others injured in the accident were receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Abdul Kader Jilani, officer-in-charge of the Highway Hashara Police Station, said one person died on the spot after the bus hit the ambulance in the Nimtala area. Several injured passengers from the ambulance were sent to DMCH, though he was not aware if anyone had died there.

He added that both the ambulance and the bus have been taken into police custody.
