36 Bangladeshis held while infiltrating into India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 36 people, including men, women, and children, while they were attempting to cross into India illegally through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

According to a press release signed by Assistant Director Md Saiful Islam of Khulna’s 58 BGB Battalion, the arrests were made on Wednesday night during separate drives by the Matila, Kusumpur, and Baghdanga Border Outposts (BOPs).

Among the detained individuals are 15 men, 14 women, and 7 children. The press release stated that legal procedures are underway to send the 15 men to jail through the court.

The men facing jail are: Monirul Gazi (37) of Nauli village in Jashore, Shahajan Gazi (58) of Jhumpur, Suman Hossain (28) and Shahab Uddin (28) of Agrobholat, Imran Munshi (48) of Faridpur, Ujjal Sheikh (37) of Tabarkandi village in Gopalganj, Sujon Das (28) of Charishwar village in Noakhali Sadar, Zahidul Munshi (40) and his brother Hafizul (49) of Andonagar in Khulna, Riziaul Sheikh (50) of Kalia in Narail, Shimul Sikder (43) of Lohagara, Sajidul Islam (19) of Jaluli village in Jhenaidah, Alimul Sheikh (27) of Satarkhali, Humayun Khan (30) of Shuktogram in Kalia, and Robiul Alam (20) of Shaplapur in Teknaf.

The women and children were sent to the Justice and Care Centre in Jashore, the official added.
