5 missing in Surma boat capsize

SYLHET: At least five people went missing on Tuesday late night as a boat capsized in Surma River at Kandirghat area in Golapganj of the district.

However, their identities are yet to know.

Locals told banglanews that the incident took place when a trawler hit the boat carrying 15-16 passengers.

Amongst them, 11 were able to swim to the river bank while others remained missing, they added.

Golapganj Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fazlul Haque Shibli said that there were no women or children on board.

“We heard that there were about 10-12 people on the boat and all of them were able to save their life,” he claimed.
