Govt to appeal against Delwar bail

DHAKA: The government will appeal on Sunday to the Supreme Court against the bail of Tuba Group owner Delwar Hossain.

The High Court sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Tuba workers have been holding demonstration for few days in the city demanding their due payments and Eid bonus along with the capital punishment of Tuba Group owner Delwar Hossain in a case over Tazreen Fashions fire incident.

Delwar, who is now waiting for release from jail, was granted two-month interim bail from a High Court bench in July.

On July 24, the bench of Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq and Justice Mohammad Nazrul Islam Talukder granted Delwar a bail for two months on his application that he would pay salaries to the workers of his factories that remained unpaid since February as he was in jail.

Delwar, also managing director of Tazreen Fashions Limited, was in jail since February after he had surrendered in a homicide case against him in connection with the fire at the apparel factory that had killed 112 workers in November 2012.
