Tk 85 fare for first 2-km fixed for Taxicabs

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered to fix the fare of first two kilometers in new yellow taxicabs Tk 85 instead of Tk 100.

Besides, passenger has to pay Tk 8.50 for every two minutes of halting of journey or for being trapped in traffic jam.

Moreover, passenger has to pay one km’s fare for being ensnared in traffic jam for eight minutes.

The premier gave these directions while inaugurating new yellow taxicabs for city roads on Tuesday morning.

These directions will be published as amended gazette notification, sources said.

The taxicabs were scheduled to run on city roads since Pahela Baishahkh but the decision was not implemented due to complexities about fare.

On March 23, Tk 100 was fixed as first two Km’s fare and Tk 34 for each next kilometer in an intra-ministerial meeting of Communications Ministry.
