Met office forecasts storms, advises cautionary signal 1

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday (August 28) forecast storms with wind speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour over six regions of the country.

Met office also advised river ports in those areas to hoist cautionary signal number one.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar regions are likely to experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or south-east at 45 to 60 kilometres per hour, accompanied by rain or thundershowers. River ports in these regions have been asked to display cautionary signal number one.

Meanwhile, maritime ports have been advised to keep signal number three in force due to the risk of storms along the coastal belt.
