Light to moderate rain likely across parts of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in several regions over the next 24 hours, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Monday.

According to the latest bulletin, rain accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds is expected at a few places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. 

One or two places in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions may also see showers. Moderately heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet.

The Met Office noted that the monsoon is currently fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.

On Sunday, the highest temperature was recorded at 36.8°C in both Jashore and Rajshahi, while the lowest temperature on Monday was 22.2°C in Tetulia, in the country’s north.

Kutubdia recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours, with 180mm measured until 6am Monday.

In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:43 pm today and rise at 5:11 am on Tuesday.
