The European Union today praised the dedication and professionalism of Bangladeshi peacekeepers serving in UN missions worldwide, marking the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
“Since 1988, Bangladeshi peacekeepers have been playing an absolutely instrumental role in conflict zones around the world,” said the EU embassy in Dhaka.
The EU reaffirmed its support for the UN and the international rules-based order, adding, “We express our recognition of this work to end conflicts and save lives. Keeping us secure. Helping Bangladesh prosper.”
Bangladesh, the third-largest troop contributor to UN peacekeeping, currently has over 5,600 personnel deployed, including 447 women. This year’s theme is “The Future of Peacekeeping.”
