Launch services on all inland routes from Barishal have been suspended due to deteriorating weather conditions. 

Md Selim Reza, official at the Barishal River Port on Thursday, said the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) ordered the suspension following the issuance of cautionary signal no. 2 and ongoing inclement weather. 

“All inland waterway launches will remain halted until further notice,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned of temporary gusty or squally winds—ranging from 60 to 80 kmph—accompanied by rain or thunderstorms over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.

Heavy rainfall has been reported in several parts of the country since early Thursday, contributing to increasingly rough conditions on waterways.
