Global trust is at risk, CA Yunus tells Nikkei Forum

Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus, today said that “global trust is at risk” as the world faces deep uncertainty, rising conflicts, and growing divisions.

He made the remarks during his keynote speech at the 30th Nikkei Forum: Future of Asia held in Tokyo.

Delivering a speech titled “Asian Challenges in a Turbulent World,” Prof Yunus highlighted declining trust between nations, within societies, and between people and institutions.

He pointed to wars in Ukraine, Gaza, and civil conflict in Myanmar, along with climate displacement and growing inequality.

He said Bangladesh’s recent political transformation, led by a student mass uprising, and reaffirmed his government's commitment to justice, equality, and a fair democratic transition.

Calling for a new economy based on compassion and care, Prof Yunus presented his vision of “Three Zeros”: Zero Poverty, Zero Unemployment, and Zero Net Carbon Emissions.

He urged Asia to lead the way through inclusive growth, peace, and cooperation.

“The future of Asia is not written yet—we will write it together,” he added.
