Bangladesh’s National Moon Sighting Committee will meet today (28 May) at 6:30 pm at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to decide the date of Eid-ul-Azha based on the sighting of the Zilhaj moon.
The meeting will be chaired by Religious Affairs Advisor Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, the Islamic Foundation confirmed.
Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest festival in Islam, is celebrated on the 10th day of Zilhaj. A formal announcement will follow the moon sighting.
To mark the occasion, the government has extended the Eid holiday to 10 days, from 5–14 June, with two working Saturdays as compensation.
