Violence to foil war crimes trial

DHAKA: University Grand Commission (UGC) chairman Professor AK Azad Chowdhury categorically said violent situation has been created in the country to foil trial of war criminal not for protesting the 10 th parliamentary elections.

He came up with assertion while addressing a seminar at a city hotel organized by Bangladesh Economic Association on Saturday.

Association president Abul Barakat is presiding over the seminar titled “Violent politics, country at stake, -Future Reflections”.  

AK Azad said our main consideration is believes on spirit of liberation war.  No consensus with anti-liberation people.

Dialogue would be continued. But with which party we will hold dialogue, those who did not express any response after the execution of a war criminal. If we hold it, it is to be talks with defeated one, he added.

“The ongoing situation has been created centering the trial of war criminals.  We have to reach a consensus for politics,” AK Azad added.

Professor of Dhaka University Mezbah Kamal, writer Syed Shamsul Haque, Kazi Kholikuzzaman, Dr Forasuddin Ahmed, National University VC Dr Haru-on-Rashid, journalist Abed Khan and among other also spoke at the seminar.
