3 Bangladeshi workers burnt to death in Abu Dhabi fire

Three Bangladeshi workers have burnt to death in a fire at a sofa factory in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The deceased were Md Yusuf Miah, 43, son of Abdul Quader, Tareq Hossain, son of Mir Ahmed, and Md Rassel, 32, son of Abdul Wahab.

All of them hailed from Noakhali's Senbagh upazila.

The fire originated at Yusuf Furniture in Sanaiyat, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, on Tuesday morning (Bangladesh time).

It is learnt that on Monday night, like any other day, the shop was closed and three people, the shop employee Russell, the owner Yusuf, and their friend Tarek Hossen, were sleeping inside. At around 3 am, a short circuit caused a fire in the shop, and the three were burnt to death in their sleep.

On Tuesday morning, Abul Bashar and Anwar Hossen, relatives of Yusuf who were living in Abu Dhabi, received the news of their deaths over the phone. The families were devastated by the news of their loved ones' deaths and demanded that their bodies be sent back to their home country so that they could see them for the last time.

Deputy Commissioner Deowan Mahbubur Rahman said he had not yet heard about the incident but would investigate the matter.
