Bangladesh reports 263 new dengue cases in 24 hours

A total of 263 new dengue cases were reported across the country in the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning, raising this year’s tally to 48,491, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The fresh cases include 56 in Barisal division (outside city corporation areas), 64 in Chittagong division, 34 in Dhaka division, 56 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 35 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 18 in Mymensingh division.

No new fatalities were reported during this period, keeping the death toll at 202, the DGHS said.

Currently, 2,301 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with 101,214 reported cases and 100,040 recoveries, DGHS data shows.
