Bangladesh reports 514 new dengue cases in 24 hours

Health officials today said 514 new dengue cases were recorded across the country in the past 24 hours.

According to a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement, 115 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 90 in Chattogram, 111 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 95 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 40 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 15 in Mymensingh, and eight in Rajshahi division.

Since the beginning of this year’s outbreak, dengue has claimed 188 lives while 45,206 people have been infected across Bangladesh.

Last year, the mosquito-borne disease killed 575 people and infected 1,01,214 nationwide, making it the deadliest year on record for dengue in the country.
