Two more people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours, while 396 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figures in a press release issued by its Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room on Thursday (October 2).
According to the release, new admissions in the last 24 hours include 87 in Barishal division (outside the city corporation area), 96 in Chattogram division, 90 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation areas), 52 under Dhaka North City Corporation, 56 under Dhaka South City Corporation, and 15 in Rajshahi division.
During this time, 409 dengue patients were released from hospitals. So far this year, 45,682 patients have recovered and been discharged.
As of October 2, a total of 48,228 dengue cases have been reported this year, with 60.7 percent of patients being male and 39.3 percent female.
With the two latest deaths, the dengue death toll for 2025 has risen to 202.
For comparison, in 2024 a total of 101,214 dengue cases were recorded between January and December, with 575 deaths. In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, while 321,179 patients were hospitalised.
