DHAKA: Dissident Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders locked BNP's Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

The leaders of JCD's recently dissolved committee locked the party office around 11am Tuesday (June 11). Later they were seen staging a sit-in before the office.

Mamun Billah, former vice president of the JCD's last committee, told Banglanews that they have placed a set of demands to the BNP acting chairman. But Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi dissolved the committee abruptly, rather than implementing (the demands).

"He (Rizvi) has set 35-year age limit to be in Chhatra Dal. It has to be cancelled," added Mamun.

JCD former vice presidents Ejmol Hossain Pilon, Monirul Islam Monir, Ikhtiar Kabir and Nazmul Hasan, former joint secretaries Asaduzzaman Asad, Russel Mia, Abul Hasan and Abdul Aziz, among others, were there.

"The demands addressed to Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman must be implemented," Mamun said.

However, a BNP leader close to Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told Banglanews preferring anonymity that Rizvi has no role to take important party decisions including dissolving the JCD committee.

"He has done everything upon direction from the acting chairman," he added.
