Govt shifting blames to BNP to hide their failure: Fakhrul

DHAKA: Opposition BNP Wednesday alleged the government is shifting blames for everything to BNP only to cover up its “failures”, which put the country’s situation on a slide.

“The ministers of the government, including the prime minister, are misguiding the common people of the country by blurting out their loose words," BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters in a press briefing at party central office.

He also said that governmental observations on the 21st August grenade attack would hamper neutral judgment in the case.

Criticizing the comment of the prime minister regarding opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s visit abroad for meeting her sick sons, the BNP leader reminded the premier is also a mother and she should not make such ‘vulgar’ comment.

About another remark of the PM he said that Khaleda Zia is not going on foreign trips for the existing political situation of the country.

“The political situation of the country is heading towards a confrontation and its consequences would not be good,” he added.

The opposition party reaffirmed that their planned protest rally for Thursday would be held at Muktangan.

“It is an undemocratic and anti-human rights act to ban meeting and procession by issuing notification,” the BNP leader told the reporters.
