Why not compensation for Dhaka Tribune's Nazim’s family: HC

DHAKA: The High Court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why they should not be directed to pay Tk one crore compensation to the family of Nazim Uddin, who was killed as a bus ran over him in Jatrabari.

An HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed issued the rule Tuesday (May 22).

Secretaries for home affairs and road-transport-communications, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) chairman and others concerned have been asked to reply the rule.

Nazim Uddin, 32, a senior executive of English daily Dhaka Tribune’s advertisement department, was killed after a bus rammed the motorbike he was riding on Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover on May 17.

HC lawyer Golam Mostofa presented before the court the news published by different media outlets, on the death of Nazim.
