DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said people would not suffer from the slight increase in electricity and water prices.

The minister also said that electricity and water prices have been increased to adjust production costs. 

Quader came up with the remark while addressing a press conference at AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s political office Dhanmondi area of the capital on Saturday (February 29).

Obaidul Quader said: “Prices of water and electricity have been raised slightly to ensure supply, because the government is subsidizing on both- water and electricity. We want to ensure 100% power consumption during the Mujib Year. We want to illuminate every house. We want to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity in the coming summer so that people don't suffer.  People will get benefit from it even though it is little suffering.”
