Bangladesh embassy in Kuwait ransacked Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait after ransacked

DHAKA: Bangladeshi workers in Kuwait reportedly attacked their embassy after a protest rally in front of it due to the non-payment of their salaries for several months by a company there.

Four officials of the embassy, including Counselor, sustained injuries during the incident.

In addition, they vandalized some items in the embassy, reports the Arab Times on Friday (Jan 18).

Sources said that some companies delayed the payment of the salaries of expatriates, warning this will damage the reputation of Kuwait. They also urged the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to stop such malpractices.

About 300 Bangladeshis have been working at Lesco Company in Kuwait. They were demonstrating in front of the embassy on Thursday (Jan 17) due to the non-payment of their salaries for several months.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait SM Abul Kalam said , "We assured the demonstrating workers of resolving the problem after consultation with officials of company concerned. But they did not pay heed to it and vandalized the embassy."

A video showing workers vandalizing the embassy goes viral after being published in Facebook, the popular social networking site.
