Victorians beat Riders by 9-Wkt

DHAKA: Comilla Victorians beat Rangpur Riders by nine wickets with 49-ball to spare in the 11th match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2015 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

Winning the toss, Victorians captain Mashrafe Mortaza decided to field first. Their bowlers did an excellent job, restricting Riders to a meager 82-run by picking up all their wickets in 19.5-over.

Nuwan Kulasekara picked up four wickets giving away only 12-run in his four overs while left arm Abu Hider took two. Besides, Sunil Narine and Ashar Zaidi took one wicket each. Arafat Sunny and Saqlain Sajib ran themselves out.

Mohammad Mithun was the top scorer for Rangpur Riders with 28 runs while Saqlain Sajib gathered 11-run. No other Rangpur batsman managed to reach in double digits.

In response, Victorians batsmen chased down the target easily. Openers – Imrul Kayes and Mahmudul Hasan – made 29-run in 5.2-over before Mahmudul (11 off 18) returned to pavilion.

Later, Marlon Samuels and Kayes took the team ashore with their unbroken 55-run partnership in 6.3-over. Kayes scored 24 while Samuels took 42-run off 24-ball. Arafat Sunny took the only wicket.

Misbah Ul Haq is the new captain for Rangpur Riders in absence of Shakib Al Hasan, who was suspended for one match over his manners with an on-field umpire.
