The Election Commission (EC) has fixed April 11 to hold the by-election to Laxmipur-2 constituency which fell vacant after convicted Kazi Shahid Islam Papul lost his parliamentary membership.

The last date for submission of nomination paper is March 18. The scrutiny of nomination is March 19. And the withdrawal of nomination is March 24.

Election Commission (EC) secretary Humayun Kabir came up with the disclosure after a meeting on Wednesday.  

He said the elections will also be held in 11 municipalities and 371 union parishads on the same day.    

Earlier on February 22, the parliament secretariat issued a gazette notification after cancelling Papul’s parliament membership.  

Meanwhile, his post has been shown vacant since January 28.
