BCL leader beaten to death in Jessore

JESSORE: Miscreants beat a leader of Chhatra League, student wing of ruling Awami League, to death at Narayanpur Union under Chougachha upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam, 78, president of Narayanpur Union unit Chhatra League and son of Motiar Rahman.

Local sources said some youths hit Amirul on his head at around 9:00pm Wednesday while he along with a friend was sitting at a tea stall in a local bazaar, leaving him critically injured.

Later, locals took him to Jessore Medical College Hospital.

As his condition was deteriorating, he had been shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10:00am Thursday.

Confirming the matter, Chougachha police station SI Abdul Kuddus told banglanews that a complaint was filed but no case was logged yet. None was held in the connection.
