Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman said on Sunday (Oct 12) that a whole institution should not be maligned for offences committed by a few individuals, adding that Bangladeshis wish to remain proud of a patriotic military.
In a post on his verified Facebook page this morning, the Jamaat amir thanked the armed forces for cooperating with judicial processes.
He said proceedings had begun to bring certain army officers alleged to be involved in enforced disappearances and killings under the purview of the law, but stressed that liability should rest solely with those directly responsible, not with the institution as a whole.
