BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has traveled to Bangkok, Thailand for retinal surgery, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum.

He departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:45 am on Tuesday (May 13) on a Thai Airways flight, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed.

According to him, Mirza Fakhrul was taken to United Hospital in Gulshan on Sunday (May 11) due to eye complications. 

Following medical consultations, doctors advised immediate surgery, prompting his transfer to Bangkok’s Rutnin Eye Hospital.

Fakhrul is expected to undergo the procedure soon, as doctors deemed the surgery urgent.
