Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will return to Dhaka from London on 6 May, a day later than previously scheduled.
The postponement was confirmed by the BNP Chairperson’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan.
He said her physician, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed her of the change.
Khaleda Zia is expected to travel on a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar. Two of her daughters-in-law may accompany her on the journey.
She left for London on 8 January for advanced medical treatment, flying on a royal aircraft arranged by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following an inquiry into her condition.
After 17 days of treatment at The London Clinic, she was moved to the London residence of her elder son and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, where she has continued to receive care.
The 79-year-old has long suffered from multiple health issues, including liver cirrhosis, kidney complications, heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis.
