Law to be enacted to compensate hartal-victim, says MKA

DHAKA: Home Minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir on Thursday categorically said the law would be enacted soon to realize compensation from those who torched, looted people’s wealth in the name of hartal.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker came up with the assertion while addressing a roundtable meeting National Press Club in the noon.

Regarding the threat of opposition’s tougher movement programme, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir alleged that the opposition is now trying to make new plot as people rejected their illegal hartal.

Mohiuddin also forewarned that the cases would be filed against them who called hartal.

With Bangladesh Awami Forum central committee president M Emran Chowdhury in the chair, the roundtable was also addressed, among others, by Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Prime Minister’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Swechhasebak League vice-president Tanvir Shakil Joy.
