Govt officials directed to ensure facemask, health guidelines

The Public Administration Ministry has directed its offices and organisations to ensure health guidelines including wearing masks amid rise in coronavirus infection.

It issued a notice on Wednesday asking for mandatory use of facemask and adherence to other health regulations.

Bangladesh is experiencing an alarming rise in coronavirus infections and deaths in the last few weeks.

The country today has confirmed 25 deaths from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 8,763.

According to the Health authorities, 3,567 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 580,808. This is the highest in a single day since July 2, 2020, almost 8 months ago when the country saw 4,019 cases.

Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 the same year.
