The water levels of Jamuna and Bangali rivers have risen at several points in Bagura and expected rise further due to the heavy rainfall and onrush of upstream water.

The water level of the Jamuna River is flowing 3cm above the danger level in Bogura's Sariakandi point. Meanwhile, the water level of the Bangali River went up by 15cm but currently flowing 3cm below the danger level.

Md Mahbubur Rahman, executive engineer of Bogura Water Development Board, conformed the matter to Banglanews on Friday noon.

According to locals, the water levels of the rivers have been slowly rising since last week due to heavy rainfall. The sudden rise in water level swamped many farmlands in the upazila while people are worried of imminent floods.

Sariakandi Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Halim said some 300 hectares of farmland have been inundated due to the rising water of Jamuna and Bangali rivers.
