Another policeman dies from coronavirus  Inspector Md Sumon Ali

Another policeman has died from the novel coronavirus infection, raising the death toll within the Bangladesh Police to 67.

Md Sumon Ali, an inspector of Baraigram police station, died while undergoing treatment at Central Police Hospital in the capital on Friday morning.

Police Headquarters Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Sohel Rana confirmed the matter. 

He said: “Sumon Ali was admitted to the ICU of the hospital with Covid-19 like symptoms on August 2. Later he was put on life support as his condition deteriorated. He died Friday morning.”

Sumon Ali, hailed from Daulatpur village under Shibganj upazila of Chapai Nawabganj, joined Bangladesh Police force as a sub-inspector on September 24, 2008. 

He left behind his wife, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

Sumon’s body was sent to his parental home in Chapai Nawabganj under the management of Bangladesh Police. He will be buried at family graveyard there.
