A court in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday granted a seven-day remand each for seven accused, including four policemen, in a case filed over the murder of former Army Major Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah of Teknaf upazila issued the remand order around 11:15 am after hearing.
The accused police personnel are- ASI Liton Mia, Constable Safanur Karim, Constable Kamal Hossain, Constable Abdullah-Al-Mamun.
Three others accused are- Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Md Ayas. They were arrested by RAB in Teknaf yesterday
On Tuesday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) appealed to the court for a 10-day remand.
Seven policemen, including ex-Teknaf officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar and prime accused Inspector Liaqat Ali, who shot Sinha dead, have already been arrested in connection with the murder case.
Other policemen arrested in the case are: SI Nandadulal, ASI Liton Miah and constables Kamal Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun and Safanur Karim. All seven policemen were suspended later.
Major (retd) Sinha was killed in a police firing at Baharchhara police check-post on July 31.
Later on August 5, Sharmen Shahria Ferdush, elder sister of Sinha, filed the murder case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court accusing nine police personnel.
