DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday extended her heartiest greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of the holy Ramadan.
She made the Ramadan greetings from a reception program at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet earlier in the day.
However, Sylhet district and city units of ruling Awami League jointly oragnized the event on the occasion of her stopover at the airport.
The Prime Minister made about one hour stopover in Sylhet on her way to Dhaka from London.
The holy Ramadan, month of fasting and sacrifice for self-purification, will begin on Friday with due religious fervor and solemnity in the country, as the new moon was not sighted anywhere in Bangladesh sky on Wednesday.
Besides, the Holy ‘Lailatul Qadr’, the night of divine blessings, will be observed on the night of July 14.
