BENAPOLE: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members on Thursday arrested 41 Bangladeshis, including children and women, while they were returning home illegally.

They were arrested from Benapole-Gatipara road of the upazila around 6:00am.

Police and BGB sources said the arrestees, who worked at different houses and factories in India, were returning home illegally with the help of traffickers.

However, any member of trafficker gang was not reportedly arrested.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Port Thana Apurba Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

A case was filed against the detainees and they will be produced before the court at noon, the OC added.
