DHAKA: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) will determine the volume of taxes as per regulations of their own for facilitating connectivity among the countries.
Road Transportation and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader made the observations to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after returning from Bhutan on Wednesday.
The minister further said necessary actions would be taken so that no foreign vehicle passes through Bangladesh without paying taxes.
He also said the transit and route permit fees would be fixed after discussion among the four nations.
Quader said the routes that would be used for those vehicles will gradually be upgraded to four lanes.
Hopefully the vehicles movement among four countries will be inaugurated in this year at Bhubaneswar in Orissa Pradesh of India, minister added.
“There is no prohibition for any other country in joining the connectivity,” he added.
On June 17, BBIN transportation ministers, on behalf of their respective countries, signed the BBIN motor vehicle agreement in Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan.
Under the agreement, seamless connectivity of passengers and vehicles will be permitted through the roadways of these countries.
