DHAKA: The government has taken decision to construct eight buildings providing 608 flats for its officials at Paikpara in city’s Mirpur area.
Housing and public works ministry will build the houses from July 2015 to June 2019. The project cost has been estimated at Tk 455-crore.
Public works division’ chief engineer Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan told banglanews that eight 20-storeyed buildings will be constructed on a 4-acre land in Paikpara for public servants.
The flats will be distributed among the officials of deputy and joint secretary ranks, he added.
Ministry sources said the project of construction of the flats has taken to ease the housing crisis for the government officials.
They hope that if the project is implemented it will help the officials improved their services.
Moreover, five vehicles will carry the officials from their houses to offices aiming to provide them safe journey to them, the sources added.
