NETRAKONA: A district court sentenced three persons to life-term imprisonment for killing a child in Kalmakanda upazila of the district.

Netrakona additional district and session judge M Abdul Hamid passed the verdict around 11:45am Wednesday.

The convicts – Jewel Bhoumik, Moloy Datt, and Suniti Rani Datt – are on the run.

The court also acquitted three others as they were not found guilty of murder of the child.

On August 11, 1998, the accused hanged Pritish from a tree to death over a trifle matter.

Later, Kamlakanda Thana police filed a case accusing six people and submitted charge-sheet on December 13 that year.
