BGB man hurt in BGP shoots

COX’S BAZAR: A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sustained bullet injuries as a gang of armed people, riding on a boat of Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP), fired on them after entering inside Bangladesh waters in Teknaf early Wednesday.

The injured was identified as sepoy Biplob.

Teknaf BGB-42 battalion commanding officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Abu Zar Al Zahid told banglanews that a team of BGB was patrolling in river Naf, adjacent to Hilamura area of Teknaf upazila.

Around 5:30am, a gang of armed people, using a BGP trawler, were raiding a boat inside Bangladesh maritime boundary. At that time, BGP obstructed the raid, triggering a confrontation.

At one stage, the BGP men opened firing at BGB, leaving Biplob bullet-hit, added the CO.

Meanwhile, another BGB man went missing since the incident, locals said.

BGB, however, is yet to confirm the matter.
